Extra Thoughtful Gift Ideas

Before we get to all my personal ideas below like Magical Bath, DIY perfume, picnic charcuterie, self care basket and more, here are a few of my favorite thoughtful gifts I found.

Magical Bath

First up is this Magical Bath. This is my favorite gift to give someone I love and my Mom‘s reaction made it all worth it! It’s a gift within a gift. It’s an experience with little surprises throughout the display. It truly is a magical gift to give to anyone you love.

Picnic Charcuterie

Creating a Mother’s Day picnic in nature either at the park, beach, lake, or even your backyard will make the Mothers in your life smile. Quality time is always a special time. Gather blankets, pillows, a yummy charcuterie spread like many many Compassionate Charcuterie’s at My Compassionate Kitchen, flowers and any gifts you may have gotten her. You can find thoughtful gifts above. It’s sure to be a beautiful, memorable day.

Self Care Basket and/or Facial

A basket full of self care goodies is perfect for Mother’s Day as Mothers of all people deserve to snuggle up and enjoy some self care. Anything from the Magical Bath blog would be great for this basket as well. Below you will find my top items to put in a self care basket.

You can also offer to give your loved one a facial using many of these item below!! I would start off by having them wash their face and wear a headband to keep the hair out of the way. Prep a warm wash cloth and have that near by while you have them lie on their back with their head in your lap or in front of you legs. Put on some soothing spa music and get started.

  • Start off by placing a few drops of their favorite essential oil in the warm wash cloth and place gently over their face for a few seconds to open up the pores and offer some aromatherapy.

  • Apply a vitamin c paper mask to the face and use a roller to help the vitamin c absorb into the skin. You can refer to the gua sha guide below for which direction to use the roller.

  • Remove the paper mask and use the wash cloth to wipe away the products left over.

  • Apply a face oil or beauty sleep serum to the face and neck. (All nontoxic face oils are below.)

  • Use a gua sha to aid in lymph drainage, give the face a lift and soften fine lines and wrinkles. Refer to my image below. You can also go watch my tutorial here.

  • You can apply a little more serum to do a little massage and lifting using your fingers. Gently use your fingers flat on the cheeks and lift from the bottom to the top like you’re lifting up toward the cheekbones. Go up to the the forehead and use your finger tips to gently spider crawl up the forehead toward the hair line. Imagine you’re lifting the forehead up toward you. Then use your finger tips and interlock them sideways to move across the forehead moving outwards.

  • You can apply some Retinol Alternatives/Bakuchiol Serums and eye cream. Place some chilled cucumber slices over the eyes while you give a gentle scalp massage.

Here are all the items for the self care basket and facial.

Breakfast in Bed

A classic Mother’s Day Gift is breakfast in bed. I like to think of this as a bonus gift, not the main gift because everyone deserves breakfast in bed no matter what. So, make their favorite breakfast items and bring it to them on a tray with some flowers in a mason jar, a little morning note, and maybe one gift to open first thing in the morning. It’s a wonderful way to start their day.

Brunch

Brunch is another classic. It gives Moms the luxury of sleeping in and taking their time to get ready. Make some brunch foods like hash browns, Simple Mills Pancakes, bagels and Kite Kill or Miyokos cream cheese, fruit, a pitcher of lemon/ lime water, orange juice or even some watermelon juice, tea or coffee with a sign, a beautiful table setting and their favorite song playing as they walk in. When we did a brunch for Mom a few years back, we didn’t get many good quality photos, but she was beyond happy!

DIY Perfume

Synthetic fragrance is unbelievably toxic. So, why not create a homemade nontoxic perfume with all your Mom’s favorite smells using clean ingredients? I love to use this recipe for perfume. It’s easy and it doesn’t contain any extra oil that can stain clothing.

I just created one for myself using a vintage perfume bottle with 3 parts distilled water, 1 part non alcoholic witch hazel and 30 drops of essential oil. I just used a pure Gardenia essential oil and I am loving it! It smells amazing and everyone keeps telling me how good I smell. You can find all the empty bottles, roll ons, bottle necklaces for reapplying throughout the day and the cleanest essentials oils I use and love below.
