Game Day!

If your family is like mine, it’s a tradition to gather to watch the Super Bowl. Although I don’t really care for football anymore and I struggle to support a sport that is responsible for killing 600 cows a season for the ball they use to play the game with, I hope one day that can change. Perhaps the NFL will consider animal friendly footballs in the future, but I know that football is something that many people enjoy watching so although we can’t control the material made to play this sport, we can choose Cruelty Free and plant based options while we watch it to do our small part. I put together some game day decor, recipes and snack ideas.

As always, thank you so much for buying through any of my affiliated links as I get tiny commissions for purchases made through certain links(some not all) in this post. It’s like your shopping small through me at no extra code to you. So, thank you for supporting me. It means the world to me. I also want to note that some of the links are links to purchase, but others might not be available to purchase online and I’m just showing you what brand to look for in stores and what ingredients to search for if you aren’t able to find the exact brand.

Let’s get started. As Peter Pan likes to say, “Here We Gooo…”

Decor

Banners

If you feel like creating your own, I found this blank banner and it comes with stencils. You can get some nontoxic acrylic paint and put “Game Day” or “Game Time” on it with cute footballs on each side. Maybe even your team’s name. It would make a fun weekend activity for yourself or for kids to do that morning or the whole family the day before. You could also paint the triangle banner with the colors of the team you’re rooting for. So many possibilities.

Here’s what you would need:

More Decor

I love the thought of the grass runner through the middle of the table with the footballs and wood signs scattered throughout.

I included a letter and chalkboard and some Game Day face paint. And of course some Cruelty Free Footballs!

Recipes

Nachos!

First up, my own recipe! Nachos!

I’ve made this for my family and everyone LOVES it.

What you’ll need:

Make sure the ingredients are just almonds or very minimal ingredients. Good brands are Elmhurst, Malk, or Silk organic unsweet.

Directions:

  • Make the guacamole and pico de gallo first. Put the pit in the guac and cover it when done so it stays fresh.

—Guacamole:

3 Large Avocados

1/2 tsp Garlic salt (add more if you’d prefer)

1/2 of an organic lime ( juice)

  • Mash the avocados, add the garlic salt and lime and mix together well.

—Pico:

  • Dice the onion and tomato, add a hand full of cilantro and toss everything in a glass bowl.

  • Grate the whole block of PepperJack cheese and place in a bowl as well.

  • Have everything out so when the nacho cheese is done, you can put everything on right away so you eat it while it’s fresh. Also, slice up two of the limes into wedges to put as a garnish so anyone who wants some can squeeze a little on their nachos.

  • Load up a large platter with the chips so it’s ready. When we do a platter, I usually like to do double it up so I put chips, then all the fixings then another layer of chips and another layer of everything else on top. If you’re worried about the bottom layer getting soggy, just do two platters with one layer of everything each You can either do a whole platter for people to pick at together or everyone can have individual plates with chips and add the toppings to their own smaller portion.

—Nacho Cheese:

  • Put all the slices in the package broken up into pieces with about 3 tbsp on almond milk in a pot on medium heat. Use a wooden spoon to help it along while it melts and stir consistently. This is important to the bottom doesn’t burn. Then just keep adding splashes of almond milk to get the consistency of nacho cheese or to your liking.

  • Once the cheese is ready, turn to low heat continuing to stir occasionally while serving, serve it over the chips and put the rest of the ingredients on top. Guacamole, pico, sour cream, olives, Pepper Jack cheese, and lime wedges the the side. Be sure to turn the stove off so if there is any cheese left, it doesn’t burn.

Enjoy it while it’s hot!

Serves 4. Double the recipe if there are more people.

Compassionate Cheeseburger

Model is my beautiful Mama.

You can watch the video we made here.

Ingredients and Directions:

  • Schars gluten free, dairy free, egg free burger bun toasted in the oven brushed with melted Miyokos plant based cultured butter with sea salt and organic dried rosemary sprinkled on top

  • Beyond Meat ground beef formed into a patty OR The Perfect Burger by Dr Praegers cooked on a grill in some Miyokos garlic parm butter

  • Miyokos Pepper Jack cheese melted on the burger

  • With a special sauce made with half Follow Your Heart Vegenaise Avocado Oil Soy Free Mayo and Organic Unsweetened Ketchup by Primal Kitchen

  • Fixings: Romain lettuce, grilled onions, pickles, tomato (all organic)

It’s challenging to find this food online, so if you can’t order on any links below, be sure to check your local health food store or Vons, Albertsons or Ralph’s since they carry these items sometimes too. I’ve also placed some of the links where you can search your location for where they sell near you.

***Alternative to the Beyond Meat***

My family loves an occasional beyond meat burger, but keep in mind this definitely shouldn’t be consumed every day as it does have canola oil as one of its main ingredients so if you’re doing Medical Medium lifestyle like me and you are wanting a cleaner burger, I’ve added some options down below or you can make Anthony William’s Black Bean Burger Recipe Here.

Tacos

A go to in our family. So yummy!

Siete taco shells are delicious. Nice and crunchy and the best ingredients.

You can put anything you want, but here are so examples of what I’ve put in it because it varies:

Steamed or bake potatoes potatoes chopped up into cubes, Black beans, Organic Chili, chickpeas, lentils, quinoa, lettuce shreds, avocado, AW Cashew Sour Cream, Pico de gallo, grated Miyokos Pepper Jack block. As always with any produce and even the beans, lentils and chickpeas, try to buy as much as you can organic. Organic just means grown without chemicals and pesticides. So, clean, normal food, as it should be.

Other ideas include:

Kite Hill Sour Cream, Plant Based ground Meat, and Beyond Meat Original Sausage.

Buffalo Chick’n Dip

and

Cookie Dough Dip

The next couple recipes are from Angela’s Plant Based Kitchen. I love her recipes and have both of her ebooks! Her plant based recipes can be easily turned into gluten free recipes if they’re not gluten free as well.

Here are two recipes that are perfect for Game Day. She even has a Game Day Section in her Volume 2 Book. I don’t know the rules for sharing others recipes and I am sharing the links of the ones that are public. For anyone who doesn’t have Instagram and can’t see the recipe, message me and I’ll send it to you! Wait until you see the pictures. They are delicious!! If you are following a medical medium diet like me, you can tweak the recipes a bit so you don’t have any of the “no foods”. So, you can sub the sugars for coconut sugar and switch it up a bit to make it a bit more clean. I also included different chocolate to choose. On occasion my family doesn’t mind the can sugar, but If you’d rather stay away, I also included the chocolate I use that is made from coconut sugar instead.

  1. Buffalo Chick’n Dip

  2. Cookie Dough Dip

(side note: as a holistic health professional, I don’t recommend artificial sweeteners like this, the plant based meats or processed foods in your daily diet. These are once in a while recipes as there is a lot of processed food in this. Even though I do try to find minimal processed foods for blogs like these. This whole blog actually is pretty much “treat yourself on Game Day” and I recommend eating Whole Foods daily if you want to live your healthiest life. And see my subs below for even cleaner options. I am also not a Dr. and these are all just suggestions.)

What you may need:

7 Layer Dip,

Deviled Potato Bites

and Black Bean Meatballs

  • Next recipe is Anthony William’s  7 Layer Dip. If you want, you can swap out his queso with Siete Vegan Queso, add a layer of Kite Hill Sour Cream and Cream Cheese, then shred a layer of Miyokos PepperJack Block on top while adding whole Kalamata Olives on top of that! Yum!

  • The next recipe are Anthony William’s Deviled Potato Bites. As I’ve said, eggs are not plant based AND they feed viruses. They are one of the top virus feeding foods. This recipe is a great alternative to deviled eggs. We tweak it slightly by adding some Follow Your Heart Vegenaise, Soy Free since that’s how to we like them. Adding that one ingredient really made it taste like the deviled eggs we used to have.

  • Next up is Anthony Williams Black Bean Meatballs! He says it’s a real crowd please and looks amazing!

    Ingredients you may need:

(Tip—if anything that I link is sold out online, I put the links anyway of brands I love even if they aren’t available online so you can look at the label and find something similar in stores near you.)

Quick and Easy Organic Chili Bar

with Garlic Bread

If you’re looking for something easy where you don’t have to cook long, this is perfect. A Chili Bar with garlic bread. It’s quick and easy depending on what you’d like to put out on the assembly line. The chili and garlic bread take minutes to make and extremely easy!

Get some cans of Organic Chili, throw them in a pot and heat up, stirring occasionally until it’s nice and hot.
Before making the chili, create an assembly line of Kite Hill Sour Cream, Anthony William’s Sour Cream, grated Miyokos PepperJack blocks (I say the blocks because the shreds aren’t as fresh and soft as the block when it’s grated), chives, diced onions, jalapeños , lime wedges, cilantro, Siete tortilla chips, organic corn chips that taste like Fritos and some cooked up beyond meat sausage or ground meat if you’d like. Put a variety out so people can choose what they prefer.

  • For the Garlic Bread, cut a Gluten free Baguette in half horizontally (we use Schars baguette and if we can’t find, we will use the hoagie sandwich bread. I’ll link it all below..) Place the two long pieces on a baking sheet with parchment paper in the oven on broil to toast the bread. It toasts fast so keep an eye on it so you don’t burn it! It usually takes a couple minutes and right when you take it out, spread a sizable amount of Miyokos Oat Garlic Parm Butter so it melts into the bread, sparkle some sea salt, cut and serve immediately while it’s warm. If you can’t find the garlic parm butter at your local health store or the one on Miyokos.com won’t get to you in time, you can also use Miyokos butter and sprinkle some garlic salt over that. It’s not as good, but it works!

Fried Chickrooms

and

Buffalo Cauliflower Wings!

Last, but certainly not least, is One Great Vegan’s recipes:

  • Fried Chickroom!

This recipe is mind blowing. We actually were a little freaked out when we first tried it because the flavor and the texture was spot on! We’ve made this more times than I care to admit because it literally tastes like chick fil a fried chicken. It’s so tasty! Also, get ready to have the song stuck in your head like we did. She sings during her videos! It is fun, entertaining and catchy!

Fried Chickroom YouTube Video. You can down load her recipe in the Description.

  • Buffalo Cauliflower Wings

These look so good! And anything One Great Vegan does is amazing so try these.

Buffalo Cauliflower YouTube video and the recipe is in the Description box.

Things you may need:

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

One last idea is making Chocolate Covered Strawberries using my favorite chocolate!

  • Place bleach free parchment paper(find picture link above) on a baking sheet. Place all the washed and dried organic strawberries neatly in rows on the parchment. Use a double boiler by boiling water in one pot and placing a smaller pot over the water. Place the chocolate bars in the smaller pot and stir until it’s completely melted. Once melted, dip each strawberry in the chocolate until completely coated and put back on the baking sheet. Once you’ve covered all the strawberries, place in the fridge for a few hours. If you want to go the extra mile on game day, do the same double boiler technique with some vegan white chocolate, get some piping and draw laces to make footballs!

Game Day Extras!

My family is OBSESSED with Date Lady Sauces. My Mom has the Chili Sauce on auto ship

because everyone eats it on everything so I’ve included that to put on any of the meals.

Snacks

Okay, let’s talk snacks. My number one recommendation for snacks is always FRUIT.

That’s what I mostly eat and a fruit platter is always a hit.

When it comes to the snacks we’ve all grown to expect on Super Bowl Sunday like potato chips, tortilla chips, dips, Fritos, barbecue chips, cookies and more; The name brands we’re used to are genetically modified and loaded with some of the worst chemicals you could put in your body like msg, artificial flavors and more. Swapping the traditional snacks for less chemically filled, organic, and equally delicious versions of those traditional snacks, you’ll still be able to enjoy your Super Bowl! Even more so because you most likely won’t be getting that heavy, tummy ache feeling at the end which is a bonus.

Brands to look for in your grocery store in place of GMO brands like Lays, Tostitos, Fridos, chips ahoy, Ritz, Club, Wheat Thins and so forth is Organic or minimally processed and cleaner brands like:

Siete!

Siete isn’t organic, but they make all their chips with avocado oil and they have so many delicious options.

They have tortilla, tortilla lime, churro, bbq, nacho, fuego chips and more. They also have a nacho cheese and spicy cheese dip! Perfect for Super Bowl Sunday.

More Snacks

Other good brands are Raw Garcia, Spudlove, and Vegan Rob’s.

Late July

An organic brand that has potato chips, bbq chips and tortilla chips!

Simple Mills

Simple Mills has all kinds of crackers, cookies, cake mix, cookie mix, frosting, brownie mix and more. This is one of our favorite brands.

Thrive Market Snacks

If you sign up for Thrive Market, they carry almost all of these snacks at a discounted price and they ship right to your door every month.

It’s an amazing subscription service to get your hands on all these snackies easier.

I would highly suggest that as I’m having trouble finding them all online, but thrive makes it easy.

I hope you found this helpful and that you’ll incorporate some of these ideas into your Game Day. If you do, I would love for your to tag me on Instagram @misschelseadiane so I can see! I love seeing that I’m making a difference with sharing this info.

Enjoy your Super Bowl Sunday. Remember to Be Kind.

With Love,

Chelsea Diane
